Kolonics György magyar kiváló kajak-kenu világbajnok részére

György Kolonics (June 4, 1972 -- July 15, 2008), nicknamed Kolo was a Hungarian canoeist, who won two gold and two bronze medals at the Olympic Games. He also won a record fifteen gold medals at World Championships.

Kolonics died on July 15, 2008 in Budapest due to heart failure. He lost consciousness during training for his fifth Summer Olympics and the attending paramedics could not help him.

Janos Baranyai was trying to snatch 148kg (326 lbs.) in his third lift in the men's 77-kg division, when his elbow popped out of socket.

No longer able to support the weight of the barbell, his right forearm bent backward. The 24-year-old Hungarian fell to the floor in shock, shaking and crying out in pain.

In Memory of Kolonics György

In Memory of Kolonics György



On 15th of July 2008, the Hungarian canoer, Kolonics György have passed away at the age of 36. His death was unexpected and very sudden, left the country in shock. He was two times Olympic champion, 15 times world champion, three times European champion. He was survived by his wife. In an interview he said he had wanted to retire after the Beijing Olympics, and wanted to have a baby.

The people of Hungary are now mourning this terrible loss.

At the end of the video he is just after winning a world championship and he says: "Im tire."
